In 2006, Wadami launched HauTe Magazine as a
platform profile for African designers as an exposure
in the fashion world. “I had a shopping bug, but
craved only designers of African descent, searched
all over the internet to no avail, and was
disappointed, especially since I am Nigerian and I
know how much we love Fashion! I couldn’t believe
there was no directory of African designers that
represent my country
/continent well, and I also knew
they existed. So I decided to combine my love for my
Country
/Continent, Fashion & Magazines and create
Africa’s Foremost Fashion Magazine–HauTe.”

FashionAfrica.com combines gorgeous designs with
world-class editorials; with a lively, engaging home
page driven by alluring images and witty headlines,
the site exploits the suitability and interactivity of the
Internet, while complementing HauTe Magazine – a
100+ page fashion magazine, that was born out of
the frustration of Editrix–In–Chic.

HauTe started off as a quaterly print magazine
featuring “Nigerian” designers and is preparing to
relaunch as HauTe–Fashion AFRICA” magazine in
2008, featuring the works of African designers all
around the world, exhibiting a taste for the cultural
tempered with an appreciation of the varied degrees
of influence by the west in today’s fashion.
Wadami has garnered a lot of respect amongst her fashion peers in the
industry, and is often called the “Anna Wintour of Africa” at just 21, she has
written for various print & online magazines in Africa, and the US. Including,
HauTe magazine, FashionAfrica.com, Bella Naija, GIANT Magazine, True Love
(babe) Magazine, Genevieve Magazine to name a few.
