Babson Names Thornton Chief Diversity Officer

Babson College announces the appointment of Elizabeth Thornton, adjunct lecturer of
entrepreneurship, as Babson’s first Chief Diversity Officer.

In her new role, Thornton will be a member of the President’s Cabinet and lead efforts
to create and sustain an inclusive multicultural environment that attracts, educates,
empowers and retains underrepresented students, faculty, and staff.
Staples, Inc. Names Elizabeth A. Smith to Its Board of Directors

Staples, Inc. announced today the appointment of Elizabeth A. Smith, president of Avon
Products, Inc., to its board of directors.

Smith is responsible for Avon's world-wide product-to-market processes, infrastructure

Hammonds Named Dean of Harvard College

Evelynn Hammonds, the University's Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Development and
Diversity and the Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor of the History of Science
and of African and African American Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, has
been appointed Dean of Harvard College.

It was important that the College dean exercise broad oversight of the undergraduate
curriculum in addition to overseeing the College more broadly, and she will do this
work superbly.
Charisse Lillie Made EVP of the Comcast Foundation

Comcast Corporation appointed Charisse Lillie Vice President of Community Investment
and Executive Vice President of the Comcast Foundation. Charisse, who holds an LL.M.
from Yale Law School, had been Vice President of Human Resources at Comcast.

In her new role, Lillie will assume overall leadership of Comcast’s community investment
program, including corporate and Foundation charitable giving and all of Comcast’s
national community partnerships with organizations such as United Way, City Year, the
National Urban League, National Council of La Raza and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Carla Lewis made President of the Washington Women's Foundation

Former Microsoft Executive Carla Lewis was appointed President of the Washington
Women's Foundation. Carla joins the Foundation following a 25 year career in senior
managment roles at Microsft and Paccar Inc.

Susan Lyne, former chief of ABC Entertainment and Martha Stewart Living
Omnimedia, is bailing on the media sector in favor of running an online luxury goods
retailer.

Company was founded late last year by Alexis Maybank, a former eBay exec, and
Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, a former exec with Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, with backing
from venture capital shingle Matrix Partners and Alley Corp.
