On The Move
Over two decades ago, a four-page newsletter called the
Gospel SCORE emerged on the scene with a focus on
gospel music and the Urban community. Although Teresa
Hairston had no business plan, no financial backing, and
no experience in publishing, she did have a vision and she
had faith.

In the beginning Teresa encountered several challenges;
she worked two jobs to make ends meet, had three small
children, and was divorced with no disposal income.

With her eyes on her goal, Teresa borrowed $300 to publish
Gospel Score. Shortly thereafter, the Urban community
referred to Gospel Score for news and updates on what
was going on in the gospel music industry. Teresa had
found her niche.

After three years of trial and error, and following the will of
God, Teresa and her family left New York for a more
conducive lifestyle and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee
to a Gospel community where she saw tremendous
opportunities, and over the next five years, Gospel Score
became a household name.

Committed to the success of her ministry, Teresa took a leap of faith and quit her job to concentrate all her efforts on the
development of her magazine.

In 1995, Teresa Hairston revamped her business and renamed Gospel SCORE, Gospel Today. Gospel Today became the lifestyle
publication for Christians and the official publication for several Christian conferences.

Known for its quality content, relevance, celebrity status interviews, and impressive special features, Gospel Today quickly
gained national support and recognition.
